Recently, Youtube has changed its rules on monetization once again.  Effective immediately, to apply for monetization, you must have 4,000 hours of watch within the past 12 months and have at least 1,000 subscribers. YouTube will enforce the new eligibility policy for all existing channels as of February 20th.

That is good and dandy, but how do I know if I met the requirement?  It is very easy to tell if you have 1000 subscribers or not, but how do you know you have over 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 month?  It’s easy.  Here is how.

1. Go to Youtube Analytics

All the information you need can be found in Youtube Analytics. Youtube Analytics can be found in your CREATOR STUDIO.  Just go to MY CHANNEL and click on VIDEO MANAGER.

2. Go to Watch Time

Go to Watch Time under Analytics.

Change the duration to Last 365 Days.

Total Watch Time during last 365 days can be found in the top corner.

3. Convert Minuets to Hours

Now we need to convert this to hours.  Easiest way to convert minuets to hours is using the free convertion website.  There are many websites you can go to.  I use the first on the Google search result.  http://minutestohours.com

Punch in the total minuets in this website and click on CONVERT.  Bam! You get your total hours.

If your total hour is less than 4000, you need to try harder.  If it is bigger than 4000 hours, you are doing good.

Good luck!
